About Us

Hello, I'm Jemma the owner of Minnesota Mermaid. I am pumped to quick off season 10 of my small paddle business summer of 2024!

I am a true Prior Lake local. My family spent most of their lives on or near the water right here on Prior Lake and continue to do so today. When my aunt came home with a paddle board a years ago, I couldn't wait to try it, and was hooked the very first time. I bought my own board, then another so I could share with a friend and it built from there.

My family inspired me to make my passion my business and it was the perfect side hustle turned passion project when I wasn't as my full time teaching job. With Minnesota Mermaid I get provide lake enthusiasts and potential lake enthusiasts the opportunity to fall in love with paddling and so much more! Bring friends, have fun, and get a little exercise. 

Fast forward 10 years since originally opening, I now have a little family of my own and Minnesota Mermaid has evolved from primarily a rental business to a community. I have adored meeting so many people and creating new friendships along the way. This season I am so excited to get my daughter Ruby out on the lake too! And of course my wonderful husband Cam and our paddle pups.
